Peter F. Heering proudly celebrates the Singapore Sling’s 100th anniversary with the 2015 Sling Award – a global charity promotion called ”Here’s to the Tiger” in May – the month of the Sling. Cocktail history was written in Singapore in 1915, when Ngiam Tong Boon (嚴崇文) – bartender
at Raffles Hotel’s legendary Long Bar – by a stroke of genius added a generous dash of Cherry Heering to his latest drink invention. The creation was named “The Singapore Sling” and its
reputation rapidly spread throughout the world.

But Raffles has been the scene for other epoch-making events. One of these took place in
the hotel’s Bar & Billiard Room, where the sole surviving wild tiger* in Singapore was killed and made extinct. This year, 2015, the legendary Singapore Sling celebrates 100 years and the historical circle is closing on the 1st of May 2015 as Peter F. Heering launches the global charity HERE’S TO THE TIGER.

Apart from celebrating the anniversary of the iconic Singapore Sling, the objective of the competition is to raise money to save the world’s tigers together with Wildlife Reserves Singapore (details will follow). Nine global winners get a trip to Singapore, including a visit to Raffles Hotel and the chance to meet the tigers eye to eye. Said Adéle Robberstad, CEO at Peter F. Heering: “Peter F. Heering is proud to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the iconic Singapore Sling.
We’re looking forward to making history together with bartenders all over the world.”
