Dixie Vodka Wins

Making its bow in the Deep South only two months ago, General Beauregard Dixie Vodka has proudly stepped to the head of the class after being awarded a Platinum medal in the Vodka category at the 2014 Spirits International Prestige (SIP) Awards. The sixth annual event, held this year on May 8 in Dana Point, Calif., is a unique competition recognizing consumer preferences over industry influence.

The SIP Awards were founded on the idea that no group is better suited to judge the quality of distilled spirits than actual consumers. Jury panelists are unaffiliated with the spirits industry and its partners in the distilling, marketing, distribution and trade organization channels in order to remain free of inherent bias. Each spirit entry is presented undiluted and chilled, and scored in a blind test for aroma, taste and finish.

“This prestigious honor for General Dixie is deeply appreciated and confirms what we are seeing and hearing from consumers that have discovered the brand,” said Matti Anttila, founder and president of Charleston-based Chicken Cock Distillers. “The SIP Awards are a true reflection of consumer tastes, and we’re thrilled that they have distinguished General Dixie as one of the best-tasting vodkas on the market.”

In addition to its award-winning taste, General Dixie has the distinction of being an all-American vodka brand. From packaging materials to its Southern-sourced ingredients – even the moment of inspiration behind the concept – General Dixie is a brand with roots deeply planted in American soil.

Anttila, whose family lineage dates back to Colonial Charleston, was originally inspired to create the General Dixie brand while on a hunting trip with friends, recognizing the need for a craft vodka with an authentic Southern pedigree. Proclaiming its “Handcrafted for Southerners, by Southerners” heritage, General Dixie has its sights set on commanding the vodka market among consumers with an affinity for the spirit and culture of the South.

After initially rolling out in Alabama, the brand has quickly gained territory from South Carolina to Texas.

Six times distilled from 100 percent non-GMO American corn, General Dixie is a clean, gluten-free, superior tasting 80 proof vodka that utilizes the award-winning, patented TerrePURE® technology. TerrePURE is a natural process which uses ultrasonic energy and oxygenation to enhance drinkability by reducing impurities in the distillate, a critically important benefit for unaged spirits like vodka.

Available as a straight vodka and in Black Pepper and Mint flavorings, General Dixie retails for $19.99/750ml. Recently awarded 4 out of 5 stars by spirits website Simply Vodka, General Dixie is also noted for its signature drink recipes created by leading Charleston mixologists, including the Mint Julep Martini, Dixie Mint Tea, the Bloody Dixie (version of Bloody Mary made with Black Pepper) and Dixie Lemonade.

Produced in N. Charleston, S.C. by Chicken Cock Distillers, makers of Chicken Cock Whiskey, General Beauregard Dixie Vodka is an 80 proof, gluten-free craft vodka six times distilled from 100 percent non-GMO American corn for superior taste and purity. General Beauregard Dixie Vodka is available as straight vodka and in Black Pepper and Mint, with a suggested retail price of $19.99/750ml.
