For the last 16 years The Original Mother’s, located at 26 West Division Street in Chicago, has celebrated the life of Elvis Presley on his birthday, January 8. This coming year the “Big Hunk O’Love” session known as Elvis Fest will take place on the eve of what would have been Elvis’ 81st birthday, Thursday, January 7, 2016.
Radio Hall of Famer Dick Biondi from 94.7 WLS-FM will once again host Elvis Fest as he broadcasts live from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m at from The Original Mother’s. A seemingly endless supply of super talented Elvis tribute artists from the Elvis Entertainers Network will take the stage to rock the songs which made Elvis “the King”.
Attendees may participate in the Elvis look-alike contest for a chance to win a trip for two to [Viva] Las Vegas! The festivities will continue with more Elvis tribute artists performing as well as Elvis karaoke. Fotio, the photo booth without the booth, will provide Elvis-themed props for free photos throughout the night.
A free buffet of peanut butter and banana sandwiches, Elvis’ favorite snack, will be served. Not to be missed is the Happy Birthday to Elvis cake complete with Dick Biondi lighting the candles and leading everyone in “Happy Birthday” at midnight. $4 Three Olives® Elvis Presley™ Coconut Water vodka “All Shook Up” cocktails will be featured along with $4 Coors Light draft beers. Doors will open at 8:00 p.m. There is no charge to enter this “Heartbreak Hotel”, but a suggested $5 donation is requested to benefit Variety the Children’s Charity of Illinois.

Located underground and lovingly referred to as Mother’s because of its basement location where grown men and women would never have to grow up, opened in 1968 in an area of Chicago now defined as the “Division Street Entertainment District”, The Original Mother’s is an iconic piece of Chicago’s nightlife history. Well-known for having been featured in the 1986 film “About Last Night”, The Original Mother’s also has deep roots in live music with such incredible acts to grace its stage over the years as Lou Reed with the Velvet Underground, Chicago, Chaka Khan, and Eric Clapton with Cream in its early years. Many of these bands honed their craft on The Original Mother’s stage locally before making it big globally, as bands continue to do on Mother’s stage today.
