Cape Classics Welcomes Côtes du Rhône to Portfolio

Cape Classics today announces the addition of the Pierre Dupond La Renjardière Côtes du Rhône Rouge to its portfolio.  This offering is the first Côtes du Rhône to join the importer’s range of South African and Loire Valley wines, and is available now in New York, through MS Walker, with Massachusetts (MS Walker), New Jersey (Lauber Imports) and Texas (Glazer’s) to release mid-February. Distribution is set to continue via The Winebow Group through March 15 in seven markets—Washington D.C., Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia—and through Southern in Colorado.

“The discovery of this Côtes du Rhône was an unexpected and happy one,” explained Cape Classic President, Robert Bradshaw. “During our first trip to Burgundy, we met with a producer renowned for their properties in both Burgundy and Beaujolais.  We tasted through their delicious offerings when a bottle of Pierre Dupond La Renjardière that was displayed on a wall caught our eye— with its beautiful and distinctive label, it’s hard to miss! Once uncorked, everything from the aromatics to the texture and long finish won us over. The distraction on the wall became the wine that blew us away,” concluded Bradshaw.

The 2013 vintage will be the launch vintage.  Pierre Dupond La Renjardière’s grapes are grown from the best hillsides of Côtes du Rhône, creating an elegant, fruity and delicate wine. In addition, the wine is made without egg whites or animal products, just delicate filtration, making it 100% vegan. With sustainability as a priority, Cape Classics upholds safe environmental practices in the vineyard and in their wines, ensuring the highest quality from vine to the bottle.

“Our mission with the French wines in our portfolio is to offer real wines made by real people, that are authentic and generous in style, at a great value price,” continued Bradshaw. “Pierre Dupond La Renjardière encompasses all of these qualities and perfectly complements our Loire Valley selections. We are thrilled to share our organic discovery with the U.S.”

Pierre Dupond La Renjardière is $15.00 SRP and consists of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 10% Cinsault. The result is a wine with red fruit aromas intertwined with hints of pepper and spice. Fresh, lively acidity and well balanced tannins with layers of fruit contribute to a lingering finish.

Cape Classics was co-founded by Andre Shearer in 1992 with a mission of bringing the crème de la crème of South Africa’s then-fledgling boutique wine industry to the American market. In 2013, Cape Classics expanded its portfolio to include wines from France, and now proudly represents 22 of the finest estates and labels from the regions. Cape Classics’ mission is to provide a unique range of selections that are exciting and delicious and that offer outstanding value.
