The world’s top spirit producers descended on Orlando, FL, April 12-15, for the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) 72nd Annual Convention, and Anchor Distilling Company walked away with three top medals awarded at the Spirits Tasting Competition:

Nose: Beautiful burning campfire with lingering notes of black tea and spice
Palate: Balanced and rich with a surprising sweetness reminiscent of tropical fruits
Finish: Warm and long, leaving a crisp dryness on the mid palate
The Glenrothes Single Malt Scotch Whisky Sherry Cask Reserve, Speyside, Scotland (40%ABV, $59.99)
Double Gold Medal
Nose: Orange peel, fruitcake, vanilla, gingerbread, black cherries, pear drops
Palate: Spicy, ginger, oaky notes, crème brûlée
Finish: Lingering spiciness with orange peel notes
Westland Sherry Wood American Single Malt, Seattle, WA ($46% ABV, $69.99)
Gold Medal
Nose: Soft pancakes with maple syrup, oatmeal raisin cookies and stewed yellow and green fruits
Palate: Grapefruit and gingersnap cookies.
Finish: Dried mango and star fruit emerge with a touch of kiwi
