Diplomático Rum is proud to announce the 3rd Edition of the Diplomático World Tournament (DWT), a global cocktail competition featuring bartenders from over 40 countries. Submissions to enter the 3rd Edition of the DWT open on August 1st and close September 30th, 2016.
In addition to their creativity, expertise and skills behind the bar, bartenders will also be evaluated by their charisma and passion. Patrick Rabion, Diplomático’s Export Director adds, “Diplomático Rum strongly believes that the best bartender in the world is one who combines all these elements.”
The online submission form includes:
· Personal information
· Cocktail recipe with one of Diplomático’s Tradition range rums (Reserva, Blanco and Reserva Exclusiva)
· Photograph of the cocktail
· 30-second to 1-minute video introducing themselves and their inspiration behind their cocktailDiplomático has secured a premium position in the spirits industry over the past decade, particularly since 2014 when the brand was named “#1 Top Trending Rum Brand” by the World´s 50 Best Bars and in 2015 when the brand was voted “#5 Top Trending Brand In All Spirits Categories” by Drinks International.

Rabion explains, “The main objective of this competition is to strengthen the brand’s close relationship with the bartender community. We are looking for the best bartender in the world, one who, in addition to his or her technical skills, embodies Diplomático’s values. The 3rd Edition of DWT is a great example of the brand’s growth in popularity among bartenders. When the competition began in 2013, 14 countries were represented. During the 2nd Edition, the number doubled to 28 and for the 3rd Edition, we are proud to say there will be over 40 countries represented.”
Selected contestants from the online submission enter local competitions in the following cities: Denver, Boston, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Austin, and Miami. Winners then participate in the regional west, central and east coast competitions and those selected willtravel to Venezuela for the semi-finals to try to win a ticket for the World Final in London. Only 13 bartenders will make it to London. The top three winners claim the following prizes: Winner: $10,000, 2nd: $5,000, 3rd: $2,500. Known for its incredible cocktail scene and some of the best cocktail bars in the world, London is the ideal city to host a world finale for an international cocktail competition.
