Radeberger Gruppe Gears Up for Spring and Summer

Radeberger Gruppe USA, a division of The Radeberger Gruppe Germany, the country’s largest brewing group, today announces a renewed focus on “Schöfferhofer Grapefruit,” its best-selling Hefeweizen grapefruit beer, for the spring and summer seasons. Schöfferhofer Grapefruit is distributed nationwide and is available on draft, in 11.2 oz. bottles and ½-liter cans at prices comparable to imported European beer.

Grapefruit as a flavor is surging in popularity and Schöfferhofer Grapefruit is also riding the newfound popularity of shandies. Technomic’s Adult Beverage Flavor Trends report names grapefruit as one of the top three citrus flavors for liquors and spirited drinks, with 14.3 percent year-on-year growth on menus.

One of Germany’s first beer blends, Schöfferhofer Grapefruit taps the country’s 100-year-old radler tradition of mixing beer with fruit beverages. It has been a runaway success since launching in Germany and in the U.S. and underscores Schöfferhofer as an innovator. Schöfferhofer Grapefruit is the only beverage of its kind to use a base of unfiltered Hefeweizen beer, which is produced by Schöfferhofer in accordance with Germany’s Beer Purity Decree (Reinheitsgebot). The beer is then blended with real grapefruit juice.

“Schöfferhofer Grapefruit has been a success right out of the gate,” says Armin Buehler, Senior Marketing Manager, Radeberger Gruppe USA. “It is a terrific lifestyle beverage, one of Germany’s most innovative in years, which inspires unprompted ‘wow’ reactions. Light and refreshing, we see Schöfferhofer Grapefruit appealing to a wide range of consumers, not only beer fans. It provides the perfect refreshment, whether at a bar, lounge, rooftop party, beach bash, picnic or poolside. That said, it is definitely a year-round phenomenon, especially at brunch and as a complement to barbecue, as well as after workouts.”

Schöfferhofer Grapefruit is Germany’s original and best-selling Hefeweizen grapefruit beer. It starts with the brewery’s Hefeweizen beer that was the first wheat beer to be brewed outside of Bavaria. Considered a sleek and elegant beer with citrus and clove notes, its innovative marriage with grapefruit is a natural. Providing easygoing refreshment and a flirtatious sparkle, Schöfferhofer Grapefruit has garnered unprecedented popularity in both Germany and the U.S. Schöfferhofer Grapefruit is owned by The Radeberger Gruppe Germany, the country’s largest brewing group.
