Nostalgic Boozy Sips Rock this Holiday Season

Preparing cookies for Santa, sipping hot chocolate during a snow storm, or watching mom make eggnog – sound like your favorite childhood memory of the holidays? Going back to basics is a huge trend this year. Comfort food like mac’ and cheese and fried chicken are regulars on menus at New York’s most elegant restaurants. What started this summer with liquor-infused lemonade is culminating this holiday season in festive sips with an edge.

“We are seeing a major trend sweeping the country’s bars: traditional non-alcoholic holiday classics are getting a jolt of the hard stuff,” says Brent Lamberti, mixologist at RdV in the Meatpacking District of New York (pictured). “It’s a nostalgic twist for grown-ups who want to revel in yesteryear, and it’s catching on faster than the Christmas spirit.”

Lamberti’s own twist on warm apple cider features Xanté and fresh apples. Your customers won’t want to pass on the egg-nog this year, because it’s spiked with peppermint-infused Bombay Sapphire, but if they do have them try a refreshing cranberry smoothie packed with VeeV açaí Liqueur, major antioxidants, and topped with bubbly. These festive cocktails will definitely be a hit at a winter’s holiday gathering in your bar! They will definitely remind your customers of days gone by, with familiar flavors to keep them warm during the coldest winter months!
